2014 Festival of Flowers in Mobile, Alabama

Festival of Flowers – British Gardens In Time

The Festival of Flowers is held annually in Mobile, Alabama at the Providence Hospital campus. This year’s theme was “British Gardens in Time.” It just so happened that I was in the Mobile area on vacation and was able to attend this fabulous event for the first time. What a treat! Being the flower lover that I am, as you can imagine, I was like a kid in a candy store!

Featured Exhibit

Sponsored by The Crampton Trust, the Featured Exhibit at the 2014 Festival of Flowers is a beautiful steel gazebo that was borrowed from the grounds of Providence Hospital. Designed by Kip McConnell of Flowerwood Nursery, it is surrounded by pools of water which are enclosed within English country-style stone walls and surrounded by lush plants. The dramatic vintage English urn with its beautiful cascading florals was created by Dennis Harris of Zimlich the Florist.

Landscaped Gardens

These interpretations of British gardens are designed by several regionally acclaimed landscape architects and designers. They offer ideas and inspirations for festival enthusiasts to take home. Personally, I’m stealing the Gardener’s Garden “brick” idea!

Featured Artist

Joy Gardner was the Featured Artist at the 2014 Festival of Flowers. I love her use of pastel colors. So soothing! I think my favorite was the “Sewanee’s Weathered Barn”.
